ABOUT NICOLE
“Find something you're passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.”
- Julia Child
Nicole Flowers has been teaching people to cook since 2016. She established her highly successful cooking school, The Culinary Cottage, following numerous requests for private cooking lessons. She transformed a charming cottage from 1912 into an ideal cooking environment, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after venues for culinary classes in the San Antonio area.
For Nicole, cooking is much more than following recipes; it embodies the expression of creativity and enjoyment. A passionate foodie, she has nurtured a lifelong enthusiasm for food. Her introduction to the culinary world began at an early age as she spent countless hours in the kitchen with her Greek grandmother—an exceptional cook and her greatest source of inspiration. Many of Nicole's childhood memories revolve around food; her father is a former restaurant owner and chef, and both her father and grandmother taught her to embrace effortless cooking, pairing flavors and textures to create extraordinary dishes. Nicole firmly believes that food has the unique ability to unite people. She loves a good meal, eating with loved ones, cooking for family and friends, and simply being around food.
Nicole earned her Culinary Certification through a CIA program and has experience as both a personal chef and pastry chef, crafting award-winning desserts for The Dodging Duck restaurant and brewery in Boerne, Texas (her "diner-style" chocolate pie secured 3rd place in the 2011 Texas Chocolate Festival).
In 2023, Nicole closed her brick-and-mortar location and currently teaches classes in the kitchens of various local businesses, as well as holding baking workshops in her home kitchen. This transition has afforded her more time with her family while allowing her to continue sharing her passion for food with others. Her primary goal is to teach individuals not only how to enhance their cooking skills but also to cultivate a genuine love for cooking.
